How the day unfolds
Five blocks. One hour of foundations: anonymisation methods, the legal framework, the risks of re-identification. One hour introducing Open Diffix, from installation to how it differs from other tools. Two hours of practice: data preparation, anonymisation rules, case examples. One hour on analysis and reporting with anonymised data. One hour of summary and open discussion. Six hours in total, breaks included.
What you take away
You can use Open Diffix to anonymise data holdings, and use anonymised data for analysis and reporting without endangering the privacy of the people concerned. You will also be better placed to weigh the legal requirements on anonymisation.
What you need to bring
Basic knowledge of data analysis and data processing. You do not need to be able to develop software, but tables, queries and evaluations should be familiar ground.
Who the workshop is not for
Anyone seeking legal advice will get an orientation here, not a legal opinion. And without any contact with data analysis the practical part will drag: the exercises genuinely presume the basics.
