Eight hours including breaks, in five parts.

One hour of introduction: what a data journey is about, with examples from other organisations. Two hours of taking stock: which data sources and data types exist, what of it needs preparing, and where the group sees possibilities and obstacles. Two hours of analysis: methods applied to your own holdings, looking for patterns, developments and connections.

Two hours for the ideas: collect them, weigh them, and turn the viable ones into a concept or a draft that is presented and discussed in the group. One hour to close: what is taken away from the day, who takes which step, and where to read on.

Concepts for one or several services, worked out as far as a day allows. Plus the materials from the day and a record of what was produced, so that people who were not there can follow it.

What exactly comes out depends on your holdings. An exploration space does not promise a particular result, it promises an orderly way of getting there.

A basic knowledge of data analysis and data processing. Not statistics in the narrow sense, but a sense of how a data set is built and what can be done with one.

Plus a laptop or tablet with internet access. And at least one person in the room who can get at your own holdings: without access the day stays with examples.

Projects where it is already settled which service will be built. That is a delivery project, not a day of exploration, and the day would only confirm what has been decided anyway.

And for groups in which nobody is allowed to dispose of the data. Whoever cannot decide anything in the organisation cannot agree anything at the end of the day either.
