Tools

These tools came out of projects where something was missing. No suitable programme existed, or it was expensive, or it could do so much that it was too complicated for the one question at hand. In that case I build the tool myself and make it available.

Most of these tools work with your data: you put something in and get back a map, an analysis or a file. The Datenatlas is built differently. It is a reference work in which you look up which data typically arises in your type of organisation. You put nothing in.

All of them run in the browser or as a plugin. No registration, no account, no transfer to me. Your data stays on your device, which keeps the data protection effort of using them low: no processing agreement, no sign-off from IT.

The source code is public on GitHub, mostly under an MIT licence. For the WordPress plugin it is the GPL, because WordPress requires it. In either case you may use the tools commercially, adapt them and carry them into your own work. I work with open source myself and I write open source.

They are not products. There is no support, no promised response time and no guarantee that a tool will still be maintained in two years. If you want to rely on one inside a working process, the open licence is your safeguard: you can keep the current state and carry it on yourself.

Each tool answers one narrow question. What follows from the answer is not in the tool.
